imexian
Hi Ive attached a pic of sparky plug taken out from bike, any thoughts? Bit pinky and lean today! Tried a pic, not a Scooby how to do it! Anyway, outside perimeter is black and sooty, porcelain bit and electrode bit is very rustic dry brown colour, almost sandy and very dry looking? Any ideas? dadof2
The sooty perimeter indicates too rich or maybe engine running a bit cool - low water temp. The centre electrode sounds near spot colour wise on although I prefer a shade darker. It could be you plug is a bit hot, as in hotter grade and this is getting it hot enough to burn off the rich mixture. Ideally the perimeter, centre and earth electrodes should be much nearer the same colour.

dadof2
Good pics, where did you get them? Back to the original post, I assume you words "bit pinky" mean pinking, that sort of chuckling, pinging sound that indicates pre ignition - the mixture starting to burn before the spark plug fires. It is possible that if the plug is too hot it will be pre igniting the easy to fire slightly over rich mixture. First try a plug a grade or 2 colder and see what happens. Which I presume they were originated by Cagiva/MV Augusta.
