aldy13
Hi Everyone I am in the process of converting a TY 250 frame to Majesty spec, does anyone know what the rear shock length is or did they use the original shock? Regards Andy
ajock
Just put new rockshocks on my 81 majesty, orginals where 340mm, but put 350mm on at rockshocks suggestion as it increases wheel travel. Sorry don't know much about other brands.
94chas
Orgionals were girling gas,13.4" These were on the modified TY frame.
aldy13
Thanks for the replies guys, I have a set of 340mm shocks I think I'll start with them and see how it goes
jon v8
Andy, I'm interested in your project. How are you doing your conversion ? Are you using a frame to copy or a jig etc ? Any photo's ?
aldy13
Hi Jon I've literally just started the project, I did a bit of searching on the web and the name Bavins of Diss came up so I spoke to him and he said he had done a few conversions, so at the moment he has the frame to alter the shock mounts, extend the rear swing arm and grind off and clean up all the lugs etc that are not used and he's also getting it powder coated for me. I will post some pictures of the frame when I get it back in around 2-3 weeks
guy53
The motor should be raised an inch I think. Guy
jon v8
I'd be interested to see some photo's of what they do.Is it going to be an exact replica or just shock mounts and raised motor ?
woody
Why the lengthened swingarm out of interest, as they weren't lengthened on the Majesty
aldy13
I didn't go down the raised motor route as the trials that I ride in don't need the extra ground clearance, with regard to the swing arm Godden framed Majesty's did have a lengthened swing arm. I did take advice from the guy at Bavins and he said it easier to ride on steep hills etc. Its not going to be an exact replica as I'm going down the black and white colour scheme route probably won't be to everybody's taste but it's not their bike lol

jon v8
As you can see I did eventually build a complete bike out of the silver frame I converted with the jig. I've done a few since and there is one which I must get on with soon...

woody
Love the pictures of the frame conversion - that's a great idea for the jig you came up with
