Need Help Trying To Set Up An 05 2.9 For Trialscross

Hi all, Flo from BC here. I bought an 05 2.9 this summer and fixed it up to race the TrialsCross class at the AMA EnduroCross. The non-adjustable suspension has been bugging me since day 1, and after the first event (9th) last weekend, I realized it just won't do. It's ok for my still very basic trials moves and skills, but even there the forks feel terrible sometimes.

Searching the forum, I found people recommend an Öhlins or TRP shock, so I'll go with one of those as soon as funds allow, hopefully before next season. Couldn't find any fork upgrades though... Is there anything I can do? Willing to change triple clamps if required. Or would I be better off trying to find a later model with upgraded and adjustable suspension instead?

Thanks for the tips guys. I already put thicker oil in the forks and that helped, but still not the greatest and I can't help the impression that they are just not very good to start with. There is some internal play too that confuses me. A spacer would make them stiffer, but might not provide the plushness i'm looking for. Preload on the shock is the only adjustment, and I have that set up as good as it gets with this shock (I think so anyway;) A rolling chassis sounds like a great idea, i'll keep my eyes open. The shock actually doesn't work too bad, it's the forks that I'm really struggling with...

Are there any aftermarket forks available in the US that fit the 05 Sherco? All I can find is from the UK, and shipping across the pond would just be too much.
