crazybond700
Busy in my ''shed'' but not sure about the bearings. Confirm wether both left side an right should be the same, on one the alignment is important the other not? (new style bearing) Normally I would answer yes but I am questioning myself dont know why. Always feels like open heart sirgion lol.
baldilocks
Left is sealed both sides but i think the right is only sealed on the crank side. You have to line up the dot on the bearing with the mark on the crankcase on the left one so the oil feed lines up
crazybond700
Yes I know yes but the other way around. The clutch side has the hole. But the other side bearing is the same but you just dont use the hole right? \I will check now, im home where I have the part fiches My fiche shows the old code MT280412006 Which is replaced with all in one MT31000CT2811 so both sides are the same http://www.lewisportusa.com/manuals/gasgaspartsman/2012_pro_parts.pdf This I already know but in the battlezone you start to doubt somehow. baldilocks
We are talking about a pro engine ? The hole im talking about is in the outer case of the bearing on the ignition side. This is the hole the gearbox oil flows through to lubricate the bearing. On the clutch side i think the oute side is open to allow oil in but i can't remember its been a while
arnoux
The bearing MT31000CT2811 is used both sides. This bearing has the seal only on one side (facing the crank) The bearing when installed on the left engine case (ignition side) must have the lubrication hole lined up with the corresponding lubrication channel. There is a small mark on the case for this purpose. This is because this left side bearing is lubricated by oil being fed into the space behind it, and then evacuated (with the help of centrifugal force of the spinning bearing) through this hole and dumped into the channel that falls directly down onto the magnetic sump plug. The right side crank bearing can be installed at any rotation as the hole is not required to evacuate lubricant. It is fed from the outside. Best way to install those bearings is to heat the crankcase half (we have a small oven in the workshop that is perfect for this ), and pop the bearing into the freezer for a bit. Makes installation a breeze. Edited October 28, 2015 by arnoux
crazybond700
You are right! I was thinking there is no oil on the ignition side, but offcoarse thats why the hole is there. I had no further troubles appart from missing one seal... Fryday I go further! Strage thing is that normally when somebody would ask me I would be 100% and while being bussy I started to get confused. Now everything is back again, lol. Maybe it was time for a break. But thanks for the answers. Edited October 28, 2015 by crazybond700
