paulr1983
Thanks line away you got any other suggestion what it could be ? Could it be compression if it was low if rings were on way would that make it not spark ?
shercoben12
try checking the woodruff key first - remove the flywheel cover ( plastic cover just infront of your left foot when your on the bike) and i think you have to remove the flywheel and you will see where the 'key' should sit and if its sheared or not. i have had this a few times causing same symptons as you where it cut out and then wouldnt go and can only get a backfire. im pretty sure its a fairly simple job - just when it happened to me someone else has done the work on the bike for me as i didnt have a fly wheel puller. http://www.splatshop.co.uk/sherco-flywheel-woodruff-key.html
paulr1983
Nice one I will give it a check tomorrow I've been put onto Bradford ignitions they are 125 a exchange unit for the stator but could it be the Cdi ??
taffe
I had similar problems with my 2007 Sherco and traced the problem to a bunch of earth wires terminated up above the radiator on the frame, hard to see. But you may have already checked that. Cheers Taff
tony27
Should be a pinned post on here about testing the stator otherwise splatshop's site has the readings you need listed in the listing for stators
dadof2
I would check woodruff key first. If resistance check not conclusive try setting your meter to ac volts and kicking the engine over - plug out so it spins well. Look for a peak of maybe up to 4 V from the trigger and 20 to 30 from the source coil. The trigger is the one with the higher ohms values on splatshop guide.
