laird387
Hi, The Maxi with the trailer entering the site is a '73 regd car - so I'm beginning to doubt the '88, since Barry was still using b/w in '78 yet by the early '90s was often on early 'orrible colour negatives - especially since I find it difficult to believe many Maxis lasted....... Trouble is Barry was conned a few years back into letting a lot of his negatives complete with programmes/results, etc., all nicely sorted, to another publisher - only to have them returned many moons later all jumbled up. Fortunately it was only a portion of his stock so we are now methodically going through all the rest of his negatives, as well as all mine, and digitising them and then cataloguing them. Just a case of bear with - but why not enjoy whilst you are doing it..............
charlie prescott
Hi Guy's. RPY 619M. Austin. First Registered 01 July 1974. Colour Blue. 1748 Petrol Untaxed, MOT out. rust showing. engine loosing some oil, gearbox jumps out of gear, brakes Iffy, suspension needs some attention . Now take a look at the pickup on the left near the middle, this to me looks new, and I recon it is a Mazda Third generation PE which ran from 1977-1985? Edit to add. Regards Charlie. Hydrolastic (or was it Hydrogas) suspension. Front wheel drive 5 speed gearbox, when family cars didn't have 5 gears. Fold Flat front seats, family cars still don't. Aluminium alloy engine (or at least cylinder head). Hatchback, when hatchbacks didn't exist. Genuine 5 seater. Sounds ahead of it's time to me, but then again, perhaps a little too ahead of it's time. Edited November 14, 2015 by sparks2

twinshock giles
The Maxi was last out of tax July 1984, so probably is earlier.
aircooled4ever
Hi all I love these posts with vintage pictures. My question is this: The outfit nearest to the camera on the right hand side (by the mk1 escort) looks like it's a mono to me, can anybody work out what it is, I initially thought bultaco(mono?!!) then fantic 301, then Armstrong? What does everyone think? And as maxi tax info suggests 1984, who was doing mono 's then?
charlie prescott
Hi Guy's. Hi Air. Look I have blown the photo up as much as I could and then got me big Spy glass out. And there is a rear shock unit right close up and the tank is Bultaco, White frame says to me a Commerfords modded bike like the Vesty ones. Regards Charlie. spen
I'm looking for a sidecar to attach to my Beamish Suzuki. Some of the best fun I ever had was when I had a 325 Bultaco with a chair on.....
