taff_d
My bike started ok at today's trial as usual, did the first 2 sections no problem but at section 3 the wind blew it over while I was looking at the section, when I got back to it and picked it up it would not start ? It took about 5 mins of kicking and when it did start it was bogged down as if it was a 2 Stoke with a flooded carb, I cleared its throat and rode the section no problems, had to stop shortly after to get through a gate and it would not start again, this time I adjusted the screw on the throttle body and got it going again but it was bogging again. Got to the next section with the bike running fine stopped it looked at the sections and it started 1st kick when needed, the next set of section where a good ride across the moor away the bike ran fine, stopped to look at the section went to start it and nothing ! I tried for about 15 min with no look so I pushed it off the moor to the road for the long push back. I tried to start it again and it started on a very lumpy tick over but eventually cleared it throat and I rode about 2 miles back down the road with no issues. When I got it home and washed off it would not start again. I have lost the setting for the screw on the throttle body does anyone know the base starting point for the screw like an air screw on a 2 stroke ? Has anyone else had issues like this ? the addict
Did it lose a lot of oil when it went over? I think the standard ones bleed excess oil into the airbox so might be worth checking its not full of oil.
taff_d
Air box was spotless as usual
jj65
Tilt sensor sticking, although it would normally start, or not start. Was the engine running when it fell over.

jrsunt
The angle sensor or tilt switch. Unclip from the harness and join outside wires together just by inserting another piece of wire into the connector to form the loop. See if bike starts better. Its quick to check so worth a try. I'm sure there is already a thread on this with pictures.d Edited November 29, 2015 by jrsunt
sportsawyer
... I have lost the setting for the screw on the throttle body does anyone know the base starting point for the screw like an air screw on a 2 stroke? Has anyone else had issues like this? I've had similar problems when it's cold and very windy. Not so much with starting, but with bogging until the engine warms up. I've learned under such conditions -- when the engine can be cooled down in a relatively short time by a strong, cold wind -- to leave the engine running, or restart it well before riding so it warms up to the fan coming on. Also carefully parking to reduce the wind aspect (and cooling rate) helps. Turning up the idle helps with starting. And I've found the DDM Idle Adjust Screw to be very handy. See H & D Racing http://www.handdracing.co.uk and look under "DDM Light Custom Trials Parts". When I installed this on my bike, I used a slightly smaller than stock o-ring (still seals) and smoothed the burrs off the spring ends. This made the action smooth, but it stays set. I can adjust the idle while riding / balancing through the forward-right fender hole. The base setting for the idle adjust screw is a about 3-turns out from full in (full in is CW until stop). Should start there and you may need to turn in a little to bring idle down.
jrsunt
The thread is on page 9. Link out bank sensor. If someone could put a link up that would be good.

I have had similar on several 4rts if cold and stop starting a lot it seem that the plug etc fouled up and the bike runs rough. I find start it up and just leave ticking over for as long as possible. Everything seems to come back into order then. Unlike a 2 stroke revving to clear out just makes situation worse. Also dump the oil tank from under the head stock and plug hole in the air box, at the same time put fan relay where the oil tank was and curl up the excess loom. Deposit bank angle sensor to bin at same time. If concerned of bike running when upside down then fit lanyard
