I've had nothing but greif from my evo ( carb issues ) Why they went to the keihin carbs I will never understand! For me the Rev3 felt lighter , better suspension .. wheelieman14 Posted December 23, 2015 Report Share Posted December 23, 2015 lockie28, once you get your Keihin carb jetting (and float level) sorted out, you will be glad you have a PWK28 carb. I had a Mikuni TMX carb on my 2001 Honda CR250R and tried many Nozzles, Main Jets & Pilot jets and it was pretty finicky to get right. I switched over to a Keihin PWK Air Stryker Carb and it is much easier to tune and jet correctly. Have you pulled your Reed cage and checked the condition of your Reeds? samw Posted December 23, 2015 Report Share Posted December 23, 2015 I had a 2008 rev3 and a 2012 evo. In my opinion the evo is a much better bike. The engine is much smoother and the link in the rear suspension is better on big rocks. The evo is easier on tight turns and the carb doesn't leak from the breather tubes. mcman56 Posted December 24, 2015 Report Share Posted December 24, 2015 I currently have a 2008 250 rev 3 and 2014 300 evo factory. tight turns feel the same the Rev 3 suspension is much softer. I would say that is an advantage in a rocky creek bed but a disadvantage on larger obstacles. Softer suspension is less tiring to ride. The evo is a little harder to kick and has sharper power but it has the larger fresh engine. Both start easily. Power is still smooth and controllable on both. Rev 3 suspension has less maintenance Rev 3 has a bigger air filter that may let it go longer between cleanings, Evo gets better traction but requires better throttle control. Evo requires more force to pull in the clutch. Overall, the evo feels like a sharper tool, more capable but requires more precision from the rider. Evo uses more gas Most of these differences could be from comparing a fresh 300 evo to a well worn 250 Rev3. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
