Hi johnnyboxer,

As a special treat, just for you, I will include an extensive Photoreport of the 1977 Colonial Trial, organised by Eboracum, in a snow covered landscape that started, we think for the only time in its history from north of Grimston, in our digital magazine, ORRe.

It will include some interesting shots, possibly including Rob Shepherd early on in his Honda days.

As a taster here's a shot of a younger version of the ever handsome Dave Willoughby, taken by Barry Robinson.

Also - please give me your thoughts on my suggestion to create TRADITIONAL TRIALS?

Enjoy

I rode in that trial! I believe it was North Grimston, to be accurate.

And as a reality check so did malcom Rathmell I think and he was cleaning everything and i was struggling to get through most sections.

Yes when we were younger trials were more straight forward the top lads were very good but good centre lads were not that far away from the top, for lots of various reasons not least the gulf between mart and the novice wasnt the same as it is now, it is as others have said an almost different sport the gap in ability is so vast.

Golden era in some ways but turning up at a trial and knowing your bike will start without cleaning the points is progress itself.

Good luck with the traditional trials but the demand wont be there with the calendar so full and series like the Normandale and previously Falcon trying and failing in a way.
