mintsauce
Always keep your bike clean in the right places, not just because she will look pretty. I would rather spend 10 minutes on the chain and sprockets than wiping the mud of the plastics. A clean bike is always worth that little bit extra and you get more respect from the majority of the other riders. I hope your mates arent as slack about there own cleanliness
bikespace
Weekly routine - jetwash after trial, then coat with WD40 including chain and sprockets, and "rustable" parts. Airbox gets stripped off and cloth jammed in carb. Airbox washed out in the sink, air filter in the washing machine with riding gear (probably not that good for it, but doesn't seem to do any harm), airbox in airing cupboard to dry out. Later in week (sometimes Sunday morning ) the carb comes off and blown out with compressor. Use spare filter and oil up this weeks ready for next week. Seal airbox with the Ishy draught excluder method. Fix any breakages (rare - I try to fall under my bike), adjust chain. Polishing is rare, and no money spent on cosmetics. I don't even have any stickers on my mudguards at the moment. I have a new mudguard and stickers on the bench, but not ready to scruff them up yet , so bike can look a bit unloved, but it's the most reliable bike I can imagine. manx2day
Definately a cleaner!! Mine is strippd at the moment! It looks so much better clean than covered in mud from the last trial! I completely strip her after every couple of trials so i know it's still in tip top condition. Although the rider isn't always as good as the machine! When i put everything back on i make sure all the nuts and bolts which can work themselves loose are given a bit of loctite for extra security! But one thing is...I have recently taken off the fly wheel cover and replaced it, sealing it with silicone and after that i think there is water getting into my gearbox. The gearbox oil is going very cloudy. It should be transarent red but now cloudy red! Is this a direct result of removing the fly wheel cover??? spud
Bike is jet washed after every ride. The air filter is cleaned and a spare is fitted, and once a month the complete air box is washed. Carb gets cleaned every 4 rides, but I
jools
Get home from trial ,take the tank, airbox, rear mudguard off; then jet wash the bike. After that; take out air filter, jetwash out the airbox, bucket and sponge all the plastics and tank separatly (otherwise stickers or laquer rip off). Carb comes off and thouroughly cleaned, check all nut n' bolts, chain comes off and goes in an oil bath for a day or so, inflate tyres. Polish up hubs, mid-box & silencer. put under dust sheet! once a month the flywheel comes off and is cleaned, suspension linkages greased, spokes tightened. Start on the sunday and worst case senario, done by tuesday .
sy250
Just out of curiousity why do you inflate the tyres to 20psi.
manx2day
I pump my tyres up if the trial or practice session was a wet one. It helps incase (not always the case) water found it's way through the holes on the rim. It just gets the water out. You'll sometimes see it come out in small bubbles.
