okjc250
Anyone know why sherco have gone for the fuel, tank back in the conventional place on the new models? sirdabalot
I thought the same too, as they seem to have ironed out the problems.
baldilocks
Better air flow i would guess, on the new one its almost straight from carb to filter
btc273
Not as likely to get dirt in tank when refueling in a wet and muddy trial
ham2
Cheaper to make more profit? To keep things in line with their other marque; Scorpa?
steve_earle
As Ham said, Plastic is cheaper than the cost of alloy fabrication and a fuel pump. I hear they have put the cheaper Dunlops on the new bikes too!
evoalien
Because the Scorpas were making more power !!! With the tank in the proper place and the airbox under the rear fender, using the identical motors the Scorpas were out performing the mighty sherco's. So much for Shercos great ideas all to be found usless by a french bike Ha Ha Ha. Guess they decided the Scorpa was better now that they are using their frame . At least Sherco riders get a choice on color Orange or Blue
nigel dabster
Im sure with the demise of Gas Gas the idea was to get some of those customers with a more convential layout?

I don't know of anyone who bought a Sherco because of where the air box was...or wasn't? Is it a deal breaker for people in your part of the world Nige? okjc250
So the model with the tank at the rear had a fuel pump? I have a 03 sherco and looking at upgrading at somepoint. 2012-2014 shercos in my price range

Is it a deal breaker for people in your part of the world Nige? You know the troubles they had at first with fuel etc so yes people were initially put off.But having refined it it was fine when they changed back. evoalien
No Scorpas are French ! Shercos are Spanish, Sherco just happens to Own Scorpa and provide power plants. Scorpa has never built their own engines. They started with Rotax, then went to leftover Yamaha Tyz Crapper engines, and now Sherco engines!!! But at least they can build a good frame obviously!! As Sherco said (hey why cant we do that)

micm
Oh God, I've lied to my French girlfriend again! I've just texted to tell her that my new bike (Scorpa) was French.
