Considering a used 2014 250 Racing. I know nothing about them, other than what I've gleaned from this forum. Sounds like the Racing edition a parts bin end of year upgrade sort of bike, which is fine by me.

That aside, is there anything I should look out for with a used one? I haven't seen it in person yet, but it's described by the local (very reputable) dealer as like new.

Standard issues (not to make you scared, just to look) next to general state (how does it look, sprockets, tires, seals (frontfork e.g.) etc).

Noise from engine (a bit is standard, sound from the clutch. Should change when you pull clutch in neutral).

Look at frame welds near frontfork''head''. Also check bracket between two front tubes, where the radiator is mounted. THose somethimes break.

Check rear wheel for play on the suspension link. Fixable but costs money.

Had one, now have a 2015. No difference. Both great bikes. The 2015s front brake master seals went after 6 months. Pull the lever gently, if it creeps back to the bars it needs attention, new seals fixed mine, but I've heard of people fitting cylinders to cure.

I wish all the other bikes had the same clutch fitted, it should just need a light pull, if it's heavy, it needs attention.

In the UK it would be about £3500,maybe second hand prices in US are higher.Brilliant bike, check for general wear and tear,if it's not done much there shouldn't be anything to worry about .Id want it for less than advertised, the new ones will be available soon
