crazybond700
Yes another front fork topic! I have a 2005 40mm front fork, adjusted by reiger for a 85kg rider # 1040: Gas Gas Trial, 2005 spring 4.4 Lk 120mm rider weight 80-85 kg. Now I rebuild the forks with new seals etc, but I think it feels lighter/softer. I used 5 oil, would 7.5 make a big difference? Also I set the air chamber on 160mm, and now after looking at my mail (the part in blue above) i see 120mm, that beeing the air chamber? Would a decrease in airchamber cause a stiffer fork? When I first installed the fork, it felt really really stiff, after using it a couple of times and taking the airscrew on top out (pressure came out of it) it felt stiff but good, like I wanted it. So I am trying to aim it in that direction again, and because nothing else changed it must be ether the air chamber or the oil thickness imo. (I swapped the forks because http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/51562-front-fork-2008-gas-gas-pro-paiolli/?hl=%2Bfront+%2Bfork ) Edited March 17, 2016 by crazybond700
smokey125
The air gap will have an effect on the feel of the forks. It acts as a secondary spring, the smaller the gap the stiffer the spring.
