breagh
On the way to today's trial when I heard this on the radio. John Wayne,William Shatner and Neil Armstrong were all Montesa owners! I've been around a while but never heard anything like this. Certainly interesting if it is the case. Is it a giant leap for mankind or should Scotty just been me up? gasgas249uk
Yes . All true. I have interviewed Jordi Permanyer the Montesa boss before , during and after the Honda buy out. He confirms this. Nice little stories surrounding them. I'll get round to uploading it soon. Edited April 10, 2016 by gasgas249uk

2stroke4stroke
If you Google John Wayne Montesa Allan you will get a pic of him in a Montesa jacket and on various bikes (but not a Mont). It also brings up a photo of Shatner on a Mont.
cleanorbust
Montesa thought it would be quite a coup for Armstrong, probably the most well known person on the planet, to be an owner of one of their products. However, they reckoned without his extreme avoidance of publicity - he arranged to be out when the bike was delivered to his home, so giving the swerve to a handing-over ceremony, therefore no photographs exist of him with the machine. Apparently he was quite an ace on the bike though. Asked how he rode it up a ten foot rock face in his back garden, he modestly dismissed it as one small step for man... breagh
Thanks folks wonder if any big names have trials bikes these days? Suppose back in the 70s Trials bikes were more appealing to the general public and we've lost that as bikes got more specialised.
crazybond700
Actually Nasa used a montesa to get around the moon!

steve fracy
I also know that the Commo"s used to have a pic of Charles Bronson standing beside a Mont 242 he purchased from them
breagh
It would be a brave man that gave him a 5. Quality stuff. My best is British Touring car champ Gordon Shedden has a 4rt and has been at a few of out trials, thankfully he's not as handy on 2 wheels. Seen top comic Ross Noble at a Lothian event last year. Not in Bronsons league but both ride trials.
micm
Damon Hill did try out a new Ossa a while back at Jamsport, but the Mrs wasn't that keen I believe.

smokey125
Damon Hill did try out a new Ossa a while back at Jamsport, but the Mrs wasn't that keen I believe. Damon always was into bikes, he raced bikes before he went car racing, he was a good bike racer. It was him mum that pushed him towards cars as they were safer.
