jml Posted April 20, 2016 Report Share Posted April 20, 2016 (edited) After having a few problems with my kill switch (which ended up being an issue elsewhere now resolved) I've pulled it apart and cleaned it up, originally it had a clear grease inside and I'm just wondering if anyone knows what type of grease is used? It looks like a silicone grease, it was transparent and non-conductive. I assume the grease is used to only provide anti-corrosive properties and lubrication for the mechanism. jml Posted April 21, 2016 Author Report Share Posted April 21, 2016 I did notice that the grease was also all over the metal plate that bridges the contacts inside the switch. I've done a quick bit of reading about dielectric grease and most recommendations are to not place it on electrical contact surfaces.
