dwb5151
I have talked about this on the forums before i think. I have narrowed it down to 3 bikes. The montesa 4rt 260 cota, 2016 sherco 300 and the vertigo combat camo. All are excellent bikes. The problem is O cant decide on which one to go for. When i test rode the vertigo i thought it was great. I felt like I could do very good on it. The sherco I felt a bit unsure it didn't seem to ride as nice as I thought it would. But I still feel that I could do good on it. The montesa I thought rode great but i am worried it may effect my results. For example I am worried about the extra weight. I feel that the montesa would be the more fun to ride but I am worried about it effecting my ability to do good. I am only put off by the vertigo because their isn't any carbon fibre for it yet and its quiet expensive. The sherco to me seems the best value of the lot at £5200 for a 300 which is a lot cheaper than the vertigo. But I am edging towards the montesa because of the way it rides ,the build quality and reliability. I would really like the montesa the way it looks and everything. Many thanks Dw

evoalien
Nobody else but you can make a decision on what bike you can ride, all they can do is offer their dim witted opinion on the matter. Every person fits better one one bike over the rest, who cares what it is just buy it and enjoy, dnt look to have other people pick your bike. heffergm
FWIW, I think the chances of any of them affecting your results one way or another are slim to none in reality, but certainly present in your head. Which is to say, buy the one you like the most.
dwb5151
Ok sorry if this post seems worthless but i am just worried about buying the wrong bike. Many thanks Edited April 28, 2016 by dwb5151
trial bike
My opinion... Look at the what pro's do on any of those bikes...then ask yourself if you have the ability to beat them? If so, your decision of bike needs to be thorough. If not, the bike is better than you, buy the bike you like and then learn to make it do what the pro does!
micm
Before you dismiss the Sherco type bike try a 300 Scorpa, it has the same engine but was designed by James Gonzales Adam Raga's ex minder. Local expert riders tell me they can tell the difference between the Sherco 300 and the Scorpa 300. The 4RT Montesa ( standard model, not Repsol) feels heavy by comparison but is lovely all the same. When I ride the two bike one after the other as I do (both pretty much new) I can only ride what I can, the bike I'm on makes no difference! OK maybe the Mont is a bit more tiring after a few hours but not by much.

Yea I was considering the new scorpa I am going to have to see if i can get a test ride on one because I was noticing that people are buying them over the new sherco. In my opinion the scorpa looks better than the sherco.

dwb5151
Thanks for the replys they are appreciated a lot. I can now see where I am going wrong its not about the ability of the bike its the rider. Edited April 28, 2016 by dwb5151
taffe
If all the bikes worked for me, I'd be looking at who provides the best backup/service, a get their brand. Good luck Taff
lineaway
Buying a new bike should be based on where are you going with trials. Are you very competitive? Young or old? Goals are to improve fast? You ride a hard line and hop a lot. Do you plan on keeping the bike till the next model comes out or five years. New they are all good bikes, but built totally different. Take a good look at yourself, not necessarily the bike. The Vertigo is the new competition only bike, the Sherco is more of the same, but really improved. The Montesa is a whole other type, great build, fun to ride and known to last. Will do anything it is asked, capable in the right hands, but more of a clubman bike.

nigel dabster
im thinking you have chosen the conventional, sherco, the brand new, vertigo, and the very different honda. Try all before you buy its the only way
