hrc2002
A while a go on TA I repied to a message asking about putting old engine oil on boots to keep them waterproofed and protected. Not wanting to distroy the 'expensive clothing' topic with a reply to bikespaces message, I decided to put a new topic up. What are your suggestions, recommendations and opinions on oiling the boots. I have red hebo technicals...would you suggest it? Reguards, Matt.
vinnied
I have used Dubbin (i think spelling is right) for last 30 odd years on various leather boots. Clean boots and rub in when damp, the product was used for leather Horse Sadles and various other leather products Vinnie
gaby
Like bikespace mentioned (on the "expensive" thread) I use Nikwax on my trials boots with great success. Also use it on my Gore-Tex lined hiking boots as it does not clog the lining, allowing the boots to remain breathable.
gii
Neats Foot Oil - Get it from Horsey type places, I think 500ml cost me about a fiver a couple of years ago, really good for softening old dried out boots and the oil helps repel the water
yorky
I have used Neats Foot Oil on my boots for years it keeps them supple and water proof up to a point, Iwas told by a cobler that it does not rot the stitching like Dubbin can hope this helps. wayne thais
I have had really good success with Gaerne Boot Paste. It makes the boots look like new. It is a polish and a waterproofing agent. Wayne
hrc2002
I have some oil on the side of my right boot from a silencer a while back, the oil is immovable...any ideas for that? Thought about using a heat gun at a far distancing and warming it up and wiping it away...would it work? Thanks, Matt
