pandelboy
hi can anyone out there advise me as to wether there is supposed to be some play in the bearing that supports the lay shaft that comes through from the gearbox which supports the clutch basket. i am not talking about the two seperate needle bearings that the clutch basket sits on but the one that is inboard of the crancase webb which i would asume that is accessed from the gearbox.with the clutch pack all fitted on i can move the clutch up and down about 2mm and will make a slight clonk in doing so.with the clutch remove i can also get movement holding the end of the shaft is this normal or not. charliechitlins
I'm not familiar with this model, but my gut feeling for any shaft is that you need a bit of endplay, but not up-and-down.

charliechitlins
Of course...you should check with someone who knows what the hell he's talking about. I'd start with an actual GG mechanic at a dealership.
