treforissa
Hi all, I've just acquired this bike and was told it is a sprite. I have no other info at all & would really appreciate as much info as possible. The engine is a Sachs, engine number 5499389/122 1251/5A Thanks in advance. trialsrfun
Hi Dave,Your bike is indeed a Sachs engined Sprite so from around 1969 ish, 125cc and appears to be in remarkably good original condition.Welcome to Trials Central if you do a search you should find more Sprite info. laird387
Hi Dave, My sincere apologies, I must have been only half awake when I initially responded to your post! She does look in nice nick - yes it is a Sprite, manufactured, as I'm sure you know, by Frank Hipkin - and if there are many references and images of the various models of Sprites in our digital magazine, ORRe. In particular we tell the story of Dennis Jones, who rode Sprites for Frank, you'll see plenty of photos of what they look like when they are muddy............. As a starter, here is a photo of John Roberts on a Sprite on the bottom reaches of Hollinsclough. old trials fanatic
Definately in good nick. At one time you couldnt move for cast iron barrelled, like yours, and big fin alloy barrelled Sprites and they certainly did their part in introducing a lot of people into this wonderful sport. My local club Peak classic has introduced a class for these along with many others from the late 60's and early 70's called "forgotten era". If you are local to Derbyshire then pop along to one of our events for a chat
