whitehillbilly
1995 Fantic Section. Thought I would start a thread, as many questions may follow. New clutch and brake masters fitted. Front brake bled up easy. Clutch not so easy. Ended up seized plates was the problem, but not before putting fluid out of the slave cylinder. lineaway
You wasted your money on the new masters. Nothing wrong with the originals. Maybe a rebuild kit. The Section was actually a fun bike.
whitehillbilly
Hi Lineaway, The problem with originals, well they were missing. As the bike was a give away, new masters were cheap overall. Considering the bike is now running real well, and a very good, well near new, rear Michelin Comp tubeless was free. Cost me $400au, about 200 quid to date.. Just need fuel tap, 36mm centres, single 10mm 'o' ring type, with res and swing arm protector, but thinking of making one out of an old nylon chopping board. Thanks for the reply. whitehillbilly
lineaway
I am not surprised they were missing. People were stealing the old AJP`s off everything when the new bikes came out with the Formula`s and the first batch of Brak Tech master cylinders. Good luck on the pet cock. utahpete
I just bought one from Mike at the Tryals Shop (www.tryalsshop.com) in upper New York state, USA a month or two ago. Small and light enough, shipping would probably be affordable.
axulsuv
There are all kinds of petcocks that will work , but for the correct one contact Mike @ the trials shop or Bill pye in the UK . On my 97 , I thought the petcock was the worst design feature of the bike ... But it was a great bike to ride ! Glenn
whitehillbilly
Thanks for the replies. Will look into it. Cant believe someone in Australia cant supply an aftermarket petcock to fit.Red plastic guard cracked, so looked around for replacement.Made one out of part of a 60lt black plastic garbage bin.I can bend it over to the seat, and it just pops back, touched up with black gloss enamel rattle can.Thinking of making one a bit wider, shorter and a bit flatter looking.Running a mineral base 2st oil at 50.1.Is this ok for the 1995 motor.whitehillbilly Edited July 20, 2016 by whitehillbilly

whitehillbilly
Hi, Fixed the fuel tap lever, small hole, high tensile nail and some locktite. Next problem was the worn chain tensioner, and swing arm protector, which fell to bit as I rode the Fantic. These seem a bit hard to get hold of. Some head sratching and 2 hrs later, with an old 10mm chopping board and clear silicone, and use of the old fixing screw. I also made a set of spares whitehillbilly Edited July 24, 2016 by whitehillbilly
whitehillbilly
Next jobs, front fork oil and new coolant. Can I use the same green coolant, as used in cars, from the local auto shop ????I am 100 kgs so was going to use 220ml of 10w, in the front forks. Would this be ok ???? The tubes need rechroming and new seal, but just want to get things running well at the moment Another problem I noticed last time I rode, was the rad fan stopped working. I can blow at the fins and it fires up and runs fine. Does it need to be pulled apart and re lubed. Had a look at removing the radiator so to get the fan out. Is it simply remove the two hoses, top screw on the plastic grill, remove the two bottom allen screws and it pulls out, or is it held at the top with something. Thanks for the replies. whitehillbilly
whitehillbilly
The motor has a noise/knock/rattle. Noise goes one things get up in the rev range a bit. two suggestion, bit of piston slap, or wear in the power valve bushes. Anyone have these possible noises from Fantic sections. Thanks whitehillbilly
