netley
Hi I have no documentation for my Sherpa just matching frame and engine numbers. Does anyone know how to search the dvla site with just this? I don't know if it has been road registered, it may have. If not I need to do it. Advice gratefully received. gasserguy
Go to a friendly car or bike dealer and ask for a Trade HPI check by frame number. This will show if the bike is stolen and the registration number if it's ever been road registered. Only use the number & letters from the frame number, not the symbols. Don't waste your time online or with the DVLA as they don't give this information. If it does show a registration number then apply to the DVLA for a new log book (V5C) using a V62 form for £25.00, Link below. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/471730/V62_030815.pdf If it's never been road registered just follow the guide on here. DVLA are taking approx 6 weeks at the moment and will only supply age related plates to unmodified bikes. About 75% of applications are now inspected before before issue to help combat fraud! http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/54839-road-registering-guide/ You no longer have to insure the bike by frame number or pay the road fund licence with an application, This is now done when you get your V5C like any other vehicle as you can't tax it until it's insured. Much easier. Edited July 18, 2016 by gasserguy
