mbeers6
I'm going to replace my stock Sachs shock with a used Ohlins and believe the shock mounting tab(s) got bent. I had to use a hammer and punch to get the stock shock out. Now that I'm putting the Ohlins in, I don't want to mess it up so I'm trying to widen the shock mount about .7mm. Any ideas on the best way to do this? I tried putting a bolt and nut in between the tabs (see pic below) and unscrewing the nut, but I'm still short about .5mm. The ohlins shock is 23mm wide and the width of the brackets is only 22.4mm wide right now. Maybe a little heat and a punch to each side of the bracket? Is it supposed to be so tight that you have to hammer the shock in? Thank you in advance!! Edited July 21, 2016 by mbeers6
wakka
Best way is to get a hydraulic spreader and spread it cold do not put any gas heat on it ,, use a very good heat gun if need only ????
collyolly
Could you not take a smidge off the sides of the shock with an angle grinder ? Give us a photo of the shock, once modified and mounted you will never think about it again !
huski
I'd do as above, easier to take a little off the shock bush rather than trying to force the frame mount apart
mbeers6
I hadn't thought about shaving a little bit off of each side of the shock bushings. I think I'll give that a go considering how close I am already. Here's a photo of the shock. Thank you for the replies. lineaway
Probably just the wrong bushings on the shock, but as above a little grinding will do. You might try the bushings off the other shock.

I saw your replies to motobene's thread on ADV rider about rebuilding the shock. It looks like you found a way to release the nitrogen w/o drilling through the head. http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/inside-the-ohlins-gg45-shock.916951/
