roderick
Hi, just bought a 2011 tr280i and want to mount lights and ossa dash... Have the original ossa dash (trailtech vapor with ossa logo) with 4 wires coming out. Dash works with CR2032 battery. Dash shows actual RPM (through labeled tach lead) when bike is running Power lead does not seem to work (14 volt from bike / dash backlight should be brighter when running ?) Two leads have no label : A 2 wire plug (this is to speedo sensor ?) A 4 wire ( 2 pins in the middle assigned from dash ) this is temp sensor. From the OSSA bike comes a 4 wire connector with 1 pin assigned (brown cable). It measures between 5 and 1 volt (drops when temp rises) between brown lead and earth. Did a reset (red button reset and 3 button reset) while off and while running but no luck..... Any ideas ?
roderick
Pulsing / Shorting the 2 wire speedo cable shows Km/h so that works... just need magnet en sensor.... Still unsolved : Engine temp reading and power...
canada280i
I thought on the original loom there were only specific wires that would fit into each connector
roderick
correct , tach and power use the same type connector though on the dash........ Problem is : 1. the power connector coming from the bike reads 14 volt on a voltagemeter so is ok, when connected the dash light should be 10 time brighter.... it doesn't... might be problem with the dash 2. engine temp is not being displayed on the dash. There's only one brown wire connected to the dash connector presumably coming from the bike's CDI and tempsensor. Measured over earth sensor voltage drops when engine heats up. Fan is working properly when engine heats , so sensor is ok... So either : - Power connector on the dash is f'd. hence the display not lightening up. - engine temp needs power to be displayed and therefore doesn display. - i'm missing something... Can anyone confirm : engine temp shows up on display even if (hot) bike isn't running (so running on internal dash batt...) tcrhino
Go to www.ossamotor.es/EN/documents.php. The user manual has all the info on dash settings and the service manual shows a wiring diagram with (amongst others) a four pin plug for the temp sensor. Could be that the previous owner modded the loom when the required plugs are not available?
roderick
Just wired up the dash to an external 12v battery... Power line works, (dash lights up) so power must be a connector issue... I already have all manuals en schematics... just read somewhere that the dash needs a reset to actually show temp when connected... i'll figure that one out next...... lotus54
trail Tech does have a tech support email.
copemech
That tells me that you will need a proper voltage input before the temp sensor will work properly. The unit will likely have a 5v output going to the sensor which will then be earthed by the sensor to vary the voltage between 0-5.

Not sure but it might be that the light changes once it runs (shows km/h)
elemetal
The Ossa loom has two power connects, one is AC for the led headlight and the other is DC. Although you said you checked voltage running it AC would explain the issues you're seeing (it's a very low output AC)
