elusivemite
Just swapped my 05 sherco125 for a 01 315r In good nick. Very nice bike and gelled with it instantly (owned an 02 a few years back but misfortune made me sell) Few little bits to replace and wondering where people recommend for Montesa parts these days. Hah just noticed I've still got my old mont as my profile pic. :/ Edited August 20, 2016 by elusivemite
elusivemite
Making progress. Wheel bearings done. Pads changed and disks had some tlc Rear linkages serviced. One siezed bearing to change out when it arrives. Managed to unsieze the dampener adjustment screw without shearing and appears to be working. Air filter was minging too. She cam breathe freely again. Hopefully sprockets and chain arrive tomorrow ready for my Friday night ride. Still got lots to do to her mind. Check for restrictors and clean the exhaust. Po ran 50:1 Service the forks (not looking forward to that) New reeds Check clutch, drags really bad (waiting on oil) Make a new airbox cover (still running original) Once that's done I might consider a new car, exhaust mod and new delta link.

ridgrunr
The clutch on my 2002 315R dragged bad too. Always has since I got it four years ago. Oil change helped, but not a lot. ATF seems to work the best. Then I took the clutch apart, sanded the fibre plates lightly to take off the sheen, and sanded the heck out of the metal plates with 80 grit sand paper to really roughen them up. Put in new ATF (Valvoline in the red bottle) and presto! Clutch is smooth as butter, no drag or squeal at all and it hooks up like it never has! Might dimple the plates while I've got them out too. I try and plan around Friday rides so i keep chipping away evening and weekends and make sure she's back together for Friday's. Finally got my sherco finished and thought I could have a rest then ended up with this. No rest for the wicked. Much nicer bike. Never did any work on my old one but obvious now I'm working on it how good the build quality is
elusivemite
Sprockets changed, new chain shortened, new lever adjusters scrounged and levers fettled, All 3 sections of the exhaust cleaned as best I can and muffler repacked. Carb cleaned as I had to strip half the bike to get the mid box off. Gearbox oil changed. Still sticking when cold but the clutch action is feather light with progressive engagement. Clutch will have to be stripped next oil change. Ready for the mornings ride. Few more jobs but no rush other than the new reeds and improving the front brake. Everything else when I've got time. Back brake is working properly too. Po had kinked the pipe around the Carb. All the exhaust restrictors appear to be removed too. Any tips for thinning out the wiring loom. Still got all the road kit wiring in place Edited August 27, 2016 by elusivemite
elusivemite
Advice needed lads. Heard about restrictors in the exhaust and they have already been removed. Also heard about a restrictor above the reed cage. Would that be the white hdpe block in the picture. Should it be removed or left In place. Cheers. Air flow director? elusivemite
And I'm done. For now.... Linkage bearings replaced. Reeds fitted and carb jetted. New tyres went on this morning. Front brake gave me headaches with wrong parts and seized pistons but rebuilt from bottom to top and seem to be working well. Road electrics removed and lanyard fitted Just need to ride her and get comfortable riding it. Training day in a few weeks and I haven't gelled with the bike yet. Just clutch and fork strip down when I can be a***d. Sick of greasy hands for now.
