144hound
Hi, guys picked up a sy250 scorpa (yz engine version) it's my first trials bike, the bike is really loud, I mean makes my mx bikes sound quiet, So took the exhaust off and you can see straight through the silencer and mid box, is this normal? Or has someone cut out the internal baffles ? I sort of expected to see perforated pipe blocking the central tube. Also, silencer needs repacking, I've learnt that it needs to be cut open and welded, has anyone on here tackled this before any tips? Best tool to attack it with? I'm assuming I cut along the welded points. Anyway your help and advise will be appreciated,
baldilocks
It shouldn't be MX loud. However the middle box is just an empty box. There's no baffle tube in there, it relys on circulation to create back pressure. The tail pipe I'd soak in neat petrol then take the bike for a long high rpm run
144hound
Ok thanks well that's good to hear nothing's been removed, I'll have a go at your suggestion, how longs a long ride? 30m or so? I'm thinking of reducing the diameter of the silencer end, in a attempt to reduce its sound, have a patch of land I can use but it's right next to a golf course so I need it whisper quiet if possible
