baldilocks
Not sure about that John. Think side pull throttles came in a bit earlier than that. I've had this problem with venhill cables a few times as far back as the 80s.
trickymicky
Venhill will make cables to your pattern, if required. Last week I sent them a clutch cable, and a throttle cable- admittedly it consisted of two parts because I use a device part way along to alter the ratio, but I was a bit surprised to get a call asking for a payment of £116. Think I will stick to making my own.
baldilocks
How much ?that's ridiculous . I can't understand why they make cables too short. Surely the inner is cheaper than the outer? If you always had too much slack I could understand and it would be easier to fix.
pschrauber
116£ wow there must be something special with the cable. I paid less for one brake line with banjos and 6 cables for various SWM and Aprilia trials Bikes two month ago. I ordered for some friends of mine in Germany and myself to split the shipping costs...)
iconic558
If you aren't running Domino levers and perches and throttle assembly the cables will not fit. Domino were standard fit back in the day. ...been there, got the T short and cap Edited May 13, 2017 by iconic558
iconic558
I don't were the £116 came from? I just spoke with Venhill and have been quoted £42 inc VAT for a custom cable.
b40rt
£42 for a custom cable, you could buy a cable, flux, solder and a soldering iron for that.
collyolly
One cable for £42 is pretty similar to 2 and a half for £116 is it not ? (Tricky said one cable consisted of 2 parts to accommodate a device)
iconic558
Venhill do a DIY cable kit for a tenner or so...maybe helpful for someone https://www.venhill.co.uk/Cables_-_Components_Kits/Universal_Cable_Kits/U01-1-100_UNIVERSAL_CLUTCH_CABLE_KIT_(1.35M).html

jon v8
They do two types, one for front brake/ clutch, plus a thinner one for throttle, valve lifter or advance/ retard. I try to keep them in stock all the time, you can make the cables to the exact length you want to follow whatever route you want. They work well.I also use a mini blow torch to solder the ends on as I can see when the solder has flowed properly through the nipple.I know most folk use a solder pot,and recommend it,but the torch works for me. shakennstirred
Ordered cable for my Beamish Suzuki. The front brake cable is about 6in to long and all the adjustment just about already used up. I gave them the measurements of my old cable and their new one and they said, theirs is correct. Won't be buying direct from them anymore.
