spenser
So does anyone have any idea how people have ponied up for the top line titanium Vertigo? A friend of mine has ordered one which started the discussion as to whether he will be the 10th or 500th. Spencer
tahoeacr
I got lucky and sold a rental property. lol. True story. I don't know 5th or 500th but I'm 5 on the list for US import. I wish I could talk #2 into switching me positions. I have VIN 002 on my Camo.

spenser
Please write in English. I think that there are few people willing to spend the money on the titanium Vertigo, whereas he thinks that hundreds will be sold. There are certainly people willing to spend the money being asked for the Camo and Ice Hell, but the titanium one is another story as in Canada it will be $15,000.00 (local currency) after taxes. michael_t
It seems to me the volume would be small... there are only so many people who would be willing to sell a rental property for a trials bike. Although if I can't resolve a current rodent issue I may do just that LOL !

Spencer The standard bike the camo in Northern Ireland is £5950 which is the most expensive standard bike and there still is no vertigo's in northern Ireland yet. The standard bike is a good bike don't get me wrong but the ice hell has magnesium parts in it which puts me of. But if people are willing to spend £8000 on the montesa cota rr they will probably sell. The TRS has been over in Northern Ireland 4 to 5 months and 3 have been sold. This is my opinion but the bike is expensive. Edited October 27, 2016 by dwb5151
tahoeacr
I'm told 60-70 units world wide and 5 to the US. To put US pricing in perspective, my camo was $9,500 OTD. '16 Beta Factory Evo 300 $8,499, '16 KTM SX450 factory edition is $10,299. Ti RR is $13,500. Yes, that's expensive. So was the Camo in my opinion. But look what you get for that 4k. Over here Ti Axles can run anywhere from $200 to $800(just to set the cost of Ti). Ti headers are $600-$800. Mag cases for the Beta are $600. So that leaves $2,600 for Ti frame, Mag swingarm and more adjustable shock. I think your getting your moneys worth. 4kg lighter.

Just lucky enough to get a once in a life time deal on a foreclosure. Bought it for 25K. Three years and 80k total sold for 550k. I think you blokes would buy a Ti RR also. Not getting a Ferrari or even new Ford just an RR. It will put me in the doghouse with the mrs. for sure. Um, better to ask forgiveness than permission right? michael_t
Pretty sure my Mrs would be ok with me getting a new bike if I made $425k on a house flip... assuming she got a new $15k bobble for her jewelry box - LOL !

That said when it's $1,000 per 1Kg weight saving, you're certainly on the flat end of the value for money curve! It will be interesting to hear how differently the bikes rides, Ti has a much 'springer' ride than aluminium in bicycle frames, steel is somewhere between the two. I wonder how this will translate to a trials bike?

Not to drag this out too much, but at about 143 lbs, you can pay $15,000.00 for the ti Vertigo, or $9,000.00 for the TRS One. Add the Reiger to the TRS, tune the suspension and the gap is maybe $5,000.00. I am unsure of the value at that point. Yes there is all of the tuning options for the EFI but are those pieces of electronic wizardry worth it to me? Not yet, but I have been wrong in the past. If it is all about the handling, I can make the TRS feel like a Vertigo by tuning the front (supplied Tech fork) and aftermarket Reiger shock, so the added money has to be all about the engine. telecat
The main advantage is that that the Vertigo just runs. No fiddling with the Mixture when you go up in the hills or down into the valley. It just runs. It's worth it for the Engine and injection alone.

I think it boils down to the fact that it is worth it to those that can afford it - it is all relative there are those that pay $1,800 extra to have metalic paint on their range rover instead of regular paint... is it worth it? neils on wheels
The fact is, none of us need to have a trials bike. We need refrigerators & cookers, but not trials bikes. They are toys & being toys, you should just buy the one you like & the one you can afford.
