guys
Here's some info: Look on the right side of the page under "special parts" - "flattank" And under "tuning" - "modifications" - "fuel pump" http://montesa4rt.nl/
paul7
What's the advantage of the flat tank?
johnnyboxer
What's the advantage of the flat tank? Less fuel More refuels Style over function
toneh
Yes I have , I used 1,2 was gonna go thinner but wanted little more strength
toneh
Im a welder fabricator by trade so cost me nothing otherwise I wouldn't have bothered
toneh
It's lighter than standard , looks far better than standard in my opinion And regards fuel capacity the loss is minimal I fill up no more than anyone else and certainly less than my old 300 gas gas And if I do a trial with any distance id put my auxiliary hebo tank on And best of all it was free Edited November 4, 2016 by toneh

jasehibbs
Wow that looks awesome exactly what I was after, when you say 1.2 was that 1.2mm how did you get the nice rolled edges. Thanks Jason
toneh
Yes 1.2 mm , I rolled the whole top to get the basic curve , and we have got some tiny rollers at work so I just pinched the sides and bent them over Then spent a fair while tapping it round the edges to get a nice fit for welding It is actually a compound curve but not worth stretching because aluminium that thickness is easy to manipulate by hand
toneh
Would have liked to get the top bracket welded on a bit neater but I dropped a clanger and forgot to remove the anodising And got some porosity in it Couldn't be bothered to grind it out and start again But to be honest I've seen some named tanks where the welding is nothing to shout home about
toneh
Oh and you don't actually need to remove the top bracket Just a bit too much haste with the grinder Doh

perce
Less fuel More refuels Style over function I think Munch did at least one that actually had a greater fuel capacity
