heffergm
Lol. You may be right. But in any event, I think an electric with a real clutch and transmission is a pretty interesting development. I'd love to ride one at the very least... I mean, it's a bike, right? No reason not to give it a whirl. Having said that, they're going to have to completely redesign the battery box, because as they have it now, as a GG rider, I can tell you that people would be destroying their knees on the corners of that thing. Not just destroying my knees but I am pretty sure the battery box itself will get beat to ***** from all of us "normal" riders crashing. But I agree the clutch and transmission on an electric bike is interesting. I still prefer 2 stroke power.
breagh
Strange how a few months back Gas Gas didn't have enough cash to pay the window cleaner. Now they've got the best part of a new bike on the go.
biffsgasgas
The air box should be filled with batteries. Make the old carb connection a plug and be done with it. A gasgas air box could go on and off in minutes. --Biff
heffergm
Strange how a few months back Gas Gas didn't have enough cash to pay the window cleaner. Now they've got the best part of a new bike on the go. How is it strange? They were bought by a company with enough cash to invest in the business, so they're using it to make product to sell and hopefully keep employees employed and us supplied with cool bikes.
breagh
Did they pay all the creditors off?
heffergm
They don't need to. They just need to keep making payments on whatever schedule is agreed upon to prevent defaulting. I don't know what they actually did regarding the debt restructuring of course... maybe they did pay it all off.
michael_t
I have heard from somebody visiting the show that the bike appears to be more of a concept than a real thing at this point. Although the Torrot bike next to it seems to be a real bike. Edited November 10, 2016 by michael_t
smarty156
The Torrot bike just looks like a blue version with an add on seat and different "tank". The frame is the same as the GasGas one by the look of it. Although the casings are different too. If they can get the battery to last for long enough (so you don't have to worry about it running out on a long trial or have a spare battery) but still be as light as the petrol bike, with a clutch and engine braking like the petrol bike (probably recharging the battery while it's engine braking) then I would give it a try. guys
It's a Contact: http://www.gasgasmotos.es/en/trial/471-contact-280.html Yep, and just like the contact it has a longer range due to the larger fuel tank as you can see in the picture. smarty156
So it looks like the blue one is an electric Contact with a different electric motor to the one based on the Pro Racing.
