dannybee
Hi hope this is the correct place to post this , I would like to try trials and am thinking of doing a experience day with inch perfect trials. I also own a Bantam which I want to convert to mild off / on road use nothing too serious ( I would buy a trials bike for that ) and daylight mot. Ideally something I could use on green lanes and maybe pay and play places as I have a couple near me. What would be the minimum must have mods, mudguards etc seem straight forward, It's fitted with heavyweight front forks. I'm guessing folding pegs, kick-start lever etc but how about wheels? I know I can fit a cub rear swingarm to fit a wider tyre but is there a rear wheel of choice? Engine wise would swapping cogs and a high level exhaust be a good start. Basically I'm just trying to build a bike to play on locally not compete , to dip my toe so to speak. Cheers Danny
suzuki250
You need deep pockets even for a mild modified bike, and its very time consuming! If you are on a budget a twinshock trials or pre65 that’s already done is your best bet Edited November 28, 2016 by suzuki250

I love a play on a trials bike too... bantams are ok a 175 4 speed is good... you got the right idea plus look at your gearing and rear sprocket. you will need a bit of height so get a 21 inch rim laced into your hub and 18 or 19 rear is ok.. a little longer adjustable rear shocks to level bike... chuck as much off as pos' thats not needed to lose weight.... higher foot pegs and yes a higher exhaust incase you get into water and watch you dont burn ur leg if you slide off so guard it.... Ready built pre 65 bantams are looking expensive, whether people pay the asking price in some cases 3k, i wouldnt.... i built mine for under a £1000. OR try a gas gas if you are into mountain goat antics...lol seen the sell for as little as £500 but realistically £800 upwards... wont tell you what i got mine for. Hope this helps... been into bantams for 46 years and things hav certainly changed.... Have fun building and riding....

cleanorbust
Best advice I can offer is: If you want a trail bike, which seems to be the case, buy one. There's loads of cheap ones around. If you want to do trials, buy a trials bike. Preserve your Bantam in its original condition. Shame to spoil it by spending loads trying to convert it into something it's not.
