john b
Hi I have a bantam - b175 engine running mikuni carb and electrex world ignition. Starts ok, bottom end is not bad (a little boggy), but the main problem is overrun. Open the throttle and Revs out but when the throttle is shut takes a good 3-4 seconds to drop revs to Tickover - but will Tickover ok. Any thoughts Cheers John
suzuki250
Looking at that manifold, I'd suspect an air leak!
john b
Definitely no leaks from manifold ! Although I may try without the manifold to confirm any theory Cheers John
suzuki250
Looks like its missing gaskets between the manifold faces, or have you used instant gasket?
totalshell
either way bantams are notorious for jetting up a carb.. why did you choose that piece of japenses engineering???
bezaboy
Sounds like an air leak and ours runs best with an Amal carb. The Mikuni always worked well at one end or other of throttle opening. Added advantage of Amal is you can then run in British bike events !!
john b
The engine came with the mikuni hence used it . I may try without the manifold spacer just to check airl leaks Cheers John
