ironbelly
Apart from the likes of Bou, which past riders have made the difference, riders that have taken riding to new levels of innovation and technique etc.

johnnyboxer
Steve Saunders Schreiber was probably the first innovative rider in the 1970's

nigel dabster
@johnnyboxerNope everyone me included were doing what he did, he was simply the very best, and scheiber had introduced alot of it anyway from playing with techniques as he was from so cal and im sure the south of england mud around comerfords was like an alien planet to him...
guy53
I think Mick Andrews as to be on that list, specially because he was and still is an ambassador to trial. Is riding technique is not flashy but to this day, the base of motorcycle riding. The fact that it is so easy to talk to him and is generosity for advise set's him appart. dav cc
Some great names listed there folks! But if you think about innovation, Its my opinion there are only 3 stand out riders (at least from the early eighties onward) Eddie Lejeune - perfected and/or improved by the likes of Michaud, Saunders, Tarres & co... Jordi Tarres - perfected by and/or improved by the likes of Colomer, Lampkin, Fuji, Raga & co ... Toni Bou - copied by the likes of Raga, Cabastaney, Fuji & co... & the rest of the current generation These three riders changed the style of riding for their generation and each taking trials riding to a new level. All the other great riders either followed the current style or improved on it.
