overthehill
following the huge success of the Scott and looking at the interest that the T&O Little Bear trial has started, a few Scottish enthusiasts are considering running a T&O trial in Scotland - however it is a lot of work and a big commitment if only a handful of riders enter. As the last one I remember in Scotland was over 20 years ago - (i remember as i ended up in hospital along with a few others!) - it may be something that scottish riders are a bit apprehensive about. What are your feelings? - if you have never ridden one would you give it a go? if enough interest is shown we may get things moving. - its up to you
jjwhite
there would definitely be interest, as long as it is a decent trial, similar to the scott, but not the the same (one scott a year i am sure is enough for everyone). the point i am getting at is that it shouldnt be 8 laps of a small course, big a decent sized lap, with plents of good hazards, but maybe make it half the length of the scott. and run it in the summer, as a bit of a warm up for the scott. i think that the scottish landscape would be ideal for a T&O trial, but it certainly would need a lot of good planning and organisation, so as to ensure the smooth running of the event. perhaps a good way to start it would be to allow only say, 70 riders in the first year, and then more the next, this allows those that are interested initially to get their ride without it seeming under subscribed, and then the riders who compete in the first year give it a good report trough word of mouth in time for the next year. You're not normally this reserved.... It's probably safer for all concerned if I don't ride, but I'll be more then willing to help out - that goes for Cam too. kinell
I would be up for Ishy's idea, a STDT (3 days instead of 6) I would choose the Monday, Wednesday and definitely the Friday. Dropping the Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday would be fine with me
tordijarres
I agree, late summer- Sept, say, would be a good idea, will attract Scott entrants wishing practice. Doesn't have to be a single lap- that is a lot of work. How about running it like the (now deceased) Ilkley Grand National- 2-3 laps depending on whether you're "clubman" class or "open" class (they weren't called this but you get the idea). This also eases the petrol check situation if you make it possible to do one lap on a single tank - ypou only need one area to marshall.
