turbofurball
So, last weekend I picked up a TY175 which only needs a little fettling - one item on the list is the noisy exhaust I'm getting a used one-piece silencer, which will get re-packed before it goes on, but I'd like to make the bike as quiet as possible - is there anything extra I can do that would help? Can I add a small extra silencer to the end or anything like that without messing up the performance?
2stroke4stroke
The standard tail silencsr was always a bit loud. In recent years I had one with an alloy system consisting of main and tail silencers. Still a bit noisy really - certainly not as quiet as a modern bike. I don't think you will get the sort of noise reduction you seem to be looking for.
smalley250
Wes did a middle silencer that didnt need a rear, well back in 83-84 and i bought n used it as it was quiet n offer more performance. turbofurball
It's a used Wes single silencer that I'm getting, though the new ones are described as sounding "crisp" I guess I'll just have to get it on there and see how it goes! cleanorbust
Yes, "crisp" is probably a good description of the noise you'll get. Not at all the quiet and soft tone of a lot of modern bikes.
