telecat
Seems James has withdrawn his entry for the SSDT.
neils on wheels
If that is confirmed and I have read a similar report elsewhere, then I find it a little curious and a little disappointing. I understood Doug Lampkin sacrificing the Scottish to help ensure seven world championships, but what is the chance of Dabill winning the WTC for Gas Gas in 2017? Improbable. What would be the chances of him winning the Scottish for Gas Gas? If he rode, you'd have to place him as one of the two favourites.

He said it himself this morning in an Instagram post. I agree with your point, but I guess in terms of media coverage for the brand, the WTC will get more than the SSDT does. It's disappointing as the Gas Gas release about his signing indicated he's not riding British Championship either, electing instead to ride the Spanish Championship. heffergm
I think James is sick of rain and gloom... I'd rather ride in Spain too.

The (untestable) question is how much will his WTC ranking be improved by not riding the SSDT? It's a fact that the factories do not see the SSDT as a priority for their WTC riders, but a shame that one of the top British riders will not be in the event. telecat
It was pretty plain when Dibs signed for Gas Gas that the BTC was not in his contract. I was not surprised by the announcement as the SSDT does not seem to be on the factories radar at the moment

Interesting - Vertigo focused on SSDT and the bikes seem to have good reliability GG possible one of the worst durable bikes now chooses to disrespects the SSDT Nuff said?? dmc2028372
I don't think it's an unfair call for him not to ride the ssdt this year. As he says, it's the week before the first wtc round, and him staying in Spain throwing the bike at 8 ft steps has got to be more beneficial to him than all day in the driving rain riding, for him at least easy sections. I'm sure the factory have made their thoughts heard to him. They want him as the no 1 factory rider to give his best on the world stage, they after all, pay his wages!! nigel dabster
If there was more time before the first wtc im sure he would ride, its the timing as much as anything surely?
