sam
Just wondering if its me, both late model trials bike I have owned load up after a few hours of practice. Seems to run fine in the section but taking it for a run down the road in 5 gear it biggins to blubber and act like Im fouling a plug. I notice this at events running between section pushing hard to finish on time she will start act like plugs fouling. Maybe I use to much filter oil. I use racing fuel 80:1 mixture for fuel. These symptons are the same as I had with my previous Sherco! sam
sam
I do understand that trials bikes need to be cleaned out often and packing in the muffler changed almost every event. But I'm thinking my situation is worst more often! sam
charliechitlins
Could be running out of fuel from sustained speed. Try setting petcock on reserve. Check fuel line, filter (if you have one), gas tank vent and float level.
sam
Charlie, This is driving me nuts! it blubbers and does not seem cleaned out after running 5 miles steady tempo, trying to clean exhaust. I have no reserve on my 03 MONTY. Is there a chance that dirt is making my floats stick and making it run a little over fueled/rich? I'm running race fuel 80:1 so that should be very clean? I can not attempt to do huge splatters (12''LOGS) when all I get is REV/BLUB/SPLOOSH! sam
charliechitlins
I often find it hard to tell if a bike is running rich or lean when it's missing. The symptoms are similar. I usually get the bike to misbehave, then reach for the choke(enrichener) and open it just a little and see if the symptoms get better or worse. You mention it happening in sections, but you also said it happens after prolonged high-speed running. Is it both?
sam
I notice in tight 1st. gear sections the bike will not Idle so I had to turn up the Idle. This has all accured after a total of 7/8 hours of first gear section riding. Once again, last night I buzzed down the road in 5 gear steady tempo for 5 miles trying to burn out exhaust. When I open the throttle more she starts blubbering and popping. I notice water had entered my Air Cleaner Box, maybe this is the problem. I'm going to tear every thing down and clean, repack muffler and try again. Sometimes I wonder if I apply to much filter oil, I use a spray on oil and coat both sides then squeez filter so it is fully absorbed. I also apply grease around the lip of the filter where it makes contact with the air cleaner box. sam
sam
I think possibly a over packed muffler caused some of these symptons! Could this be true? I cleaned everything and repacked the muffler with less packing and the machine ran great! Is there different kinds of packing we should use? sam
