ekbeanctr
I am finally getting to the front forks and am needing some information on what's available out there. Is there a source for new springs for the 175 Forks, I am guessing after 41 years that the old ones are probably pretty well used up. Also the manual says to use 10W30 motor oil in the forks? Is it better to use the modern fork oils in 10W. I weigh about 180 Lbs and ride Novice class.
timdog
I've used magicals progressive springs in other bikes, much improved over old worn springs. They are available for ty, worth the money
cleanorbust
2 hours ago, oni nou said: Fork damper valving in standard TY175 forks is basic and was designed with using something like 10w30 motor oil so if you want some dampening effect then it is better to stick with something heavier in viscosity...even 10w will be too watery. There are posts on here from the past that have more information if you trawl through them in the Yamaha Forum. I'd have thought a watery oil would be excellent for a dampening effect. For a damping effect though, a heavier grade oil would indeed be preferable.
