roneildo
Hi, sorry if this is a stupid question but I cant seem to find a definitive answer anywhere ....I'm over 24 years old, and want to ride trials that might involve a bit of road work , what's the minimum licence I need ? Is A2 enough?
cleanorbust
If you've got an A2 licence then any trials bike will fall within the maximum power output you're allowed to ride, ie A2 means you can legally ride any trials bike on the road. Competing in a trial makes no difference to the licence you're required to have.
roneildo
Thanks for the reply - I thought that was the case. (I'd asked a couple of bike dealers but got different answers). Cheers.
turbofurball
FWIW, taking the A2 test is exactly the same as for the full A test ... so if you're taking one you might as well go the whole hog
roneildo
Thanks Turbo - I've been reading up on it this morning and have just realised that.
collyolly
The other problem to consider is insurance, not sure what the current situation is, I am sure there is plenty of advice out there but standard insurance did not used to cover riding in competition. Did the ACU introduce insurance cover for the event ?
cleanorbust
Yes, they did. But of course you'd need your own insurance anyway to, ahem, tax your bike before the event.
