True definition is an electro-chemical process which physically alters the surface of the metal to produce a tough oxide layer on the surface. Wire wool it or scotchbrite it off and its gone ! Voila! arun1664 Posted December 3, 2005 Report Share Posted December 3, 2005 Oven Cleaner with caustic soda in I would guess, suggest you do a small test if you go the caustic soda route, high concentrations can be quite agressive on aluminium.
