riostomi
Hi all, I am trying to split my engine to change the main bearings after i bought it as i think it sat for a long time. The manual suggests to lay the engine on a pile of rags, and start hitting it softly with a hammer. It Plit to about 1 cm, but it stopped and it wont move anywhere from there. Is there a better way to get it to split? Am i missing something? Its supposed to be a 2004 sherco 250 but when i removed the cylinder it said 0.3L so i dont know. djr
I am not familiar with the layout of those engines, you say you have a manual but not sure if its right for the engine , maybe try looking at an online parts diagram if you can find one have you got flywheel & clutch covers off to make sure everything is removed that needs removing ? gear box sprocket, gear lever , kick start lever etc. ? maybe a little circlip on one of the shafts ? sometimes clutch basket or the gear on the crank that drives it will need removing
lineaway
Take a picture of each side of the motor for us too see. If not, take it to a mechanic.
