I have a standard 2017 GASGAS 300

reiger rear shock on the bike as they come with standard spring think they are for the 60-70kg rider..

however im 100kg and wanting to know Is it worth putting a stronger spring on to be more suitable for my weight.

What help/benefits will this make

Thanks

Yes, it is worth everything. You have a new bike, but at your weight the suspension cannot do what it is supposed to do. You are riding a bike that is totally sacked out, no ground clearance and steers like crap. The right shock spring would fix that.

PS You should do the front spring too.

You will maintain traction better with the correct springs. With “normal” preload your suspension will be too soft so your geometry will be much more variable over bumpy terrain complicating control. If you crank up the preload the suspension will require your weight on it at all times to work as the springs will not compress until you have enough weight to overcome the preload. Up to that point it’s like a hard tail. A heavier set of springs will allow less preload making the suspension work better on smaller surface irregularities while still absorbing bigger hits without hard frame breaking bottoming out.

And as Lineaway points out front and rear need to work together.

Thanks dan williams

ive got the correct spring for my weight ordered.

im guessing when stood on the bike it will be alot stiffer to compress the spring but will benefit me when splatting/hopping as its gonna rebound quicker than the slow standard one i have... correct?
