Domc87
Right I bought a gas gas contact 250 92 or 93. It was running until it was jet washed (not by me) and I know the bike wasn't started afterwards. It had a spark not that great and is getting fuel. It's nearly fired a couple of times with a little bit smoke. But now it has nothing.I have changed the coil in case that was water damaged it has a better spark but still not firing. I have blew the water out the carb I have dried and cleaned the reeds I have dropped the oil out and put new stuff in and I have had the fly wheel off and checked the key that' fine. It as got me baffled. It' got spark it' getting fuel still nothing. Any help off trials bike geniuses would be much appreciated cheers
rotors7
Have you checked your kill button ?
frenchy3
Disconnect the kill button(normally black and white wire on most bikes) to rule it out.
Domc87
The kill switch is off the bike I have even disconnected the fan. It's got my head done in
huski
It's not just flooded from all the attempts to start is it?Turn the fuel off, take the plug out and kick it over with the throttle fully open, does it spray fuel out?
frenchy3
Depending on how crazy they went with the jetwashing you may have water in the fuel. Drain the tank and start with fresh and also don,t forget to drain the float bowl of the carb.
Domc87
Are he would of washed it for about an hour easy the paint has been blasted off the pot put it that way. Inside the carb and where the reeds are was soaking mate. I have put fresh fuel in. The carb has been stripped right down by my mate who has a trails bike and he knows abit about them, the carb has been stripped and cleaned. Its getting fuel its got a healthy spark. Fly wheel is fine key is fine. He thinks it could be the rectifier or the cdi not sure if there the same thing. There is a little play in the piston. But one I say it started and ran fine before it was jet washed. Am thinking it could be water damage to the stator.
scifi
Is the air-filter foam soaking with water..? If the engine crankcase or exhaust pipe is full of water, you may need to push or tow it down the road in 3rd gear with the plug removed. .
