I ride a blue bike but was never dealer only just a rider and enthusiast. Riding the Nationals last year was my first time riding trials out side of the Maritimes. Which club are you riding at?

Does that fall under the ATA ? or is it a separate entity (It doesn't seem to come up on google or facebook) ?

I am not sure if you follow the Canadian Trials Initiative on facebook but am happy to email you the weekly updates if you are interested. Neil gets them for the ATA.

Cheers,

Michael

Only when I elected to make it that way.  It cost money annually to sanction a club and ATA is one of the clubs I have supported.  Only made sense for us to operate under the ATA banner during covid and not sanction the EOTA until he host our next national.

This years CMA National is Still a best kept secret, although rumour has it an event is slated somewhere on the Vancouver Island in the late fall.  Wish I had known this is how it is going to be earlier and I would have booked my July 20&21 as a national, too late now.

I'm going to say it right now that I'm hosting a CMA National competition in 2025 and it will be some time after bug season but before school starts so people can actually plan to travel, attend and participate.

You want to know what CMA really is to trials riders and to the people that actually make events happen, CMA is just another obstacle.  They don't even broker insurance any more, they sell competition licenses.

CMA Tips and tricks:  Buy your competition license well in advance and save a few bucks.  Pre-register for events in time and save a few bucks.  If you hold a competition license for 25 consecutive years you qualify to become a life member and your competitor license will be half the price from that time forward and you can save a few bucks. Never send them any more money then you need to.  Never ask CMA anything ever, just tell them how it is going to be.  That's how to deal with CMA.

The Nationals will be November 8-9, 2024, at the Victoria Motorcycle Club property, in Victoria, BC

In addition, we are working with the NATC to combine the Canadian Nationals with the the Donner CA Nationals on July 27th/28th as the North American FIM Championship.

Would be great if the CMA could get the 2025 event sorted earlier - I believe Derek has offered to host it as well always great to have choices.

The "Canadian Trials Initiative" is a handy spot to keep up to date with things.

I don't generally step up to host a national unless nobody else is doing one.  Best luck with your Victoria B.C. event, wish I could afford the travel time and several thousands of $ it would cost me to ride it.   Hopefully you will see sufficient attendance to substantiate all of the rider classes, very much unlike the last Saskatchewan national where rider participation was pathetic.

If the Canadian Trials Initiative was to drop coin to create a CMA sanctioned club in support of a national race series and provide all the things we would require to host events, sign me up.  If it's just another obstacle to scheduling, insuring, marshalling and processing the events well 🤨 darn

@michael_t  It does not work that way.  A sanctioned club needs to be affiliated before the event hosts submit application to hold national competition events.  CMA responds to applications they don't build events in Ontario or anywhere else, land owners and club members do that.  In my considerable experience hosting CMA nationals over the decades I have never been rejected upon submitting a national trial event application.

@michael_t you were aware of this May 1st. 2024 please do not interfere with our ability to host events.

As stated before I don't often visit this forum. Luckily somebody asked me today who Lemur was on Trials Central ??? - honestly I am not sure but I do apologize to whoever you are. Honestly I did not remember you had stated here on trials central that you had decided that you would host the CMA National next year back in May. I do see that you had been asking that decisions about Nationals be made earlier in the year and that you typically only host them if nobody else wants to.

Please be aware that I do send weekly emails to all of the clubs that I am aware of and have contact information for and I also post those same emails each week to the Canadian Trials Initiative FB page (as noted in my post above on May 1st). I asked that clubs interested should let us know on June 12, Sept 4, Oct 29, Nov 5th and then I stated on Nov 14th that Jonathan, Christy and I had chatted at Nationals and since the ATAQ had been the only club that had shown an interest and since Christy was heading to the NATC meetings the following weekend we would go with the ATAQ so it could be discussed with the NATC with the hope for a FIM NA championship including one NATC event and the Canadian Nationals.

My guess is my note of Nov 14th is what sparked your post here and I am glad to answer questions. I will say nobody is trying to limit anybody's ability or interest in hosting events actually quite the opposite we are trying very hard to work with all of the clubs that are interested early on so that Nationals can be worked into the greater Trials community schedule earlier.

Don't be making announcements about CMA national events before they have even been applied for, it don't work that way and when you do state the date and venue, TBA is useless information.  I'm one of the 3 Daves and if you rode CMA sanctioned trials in Ontario you would know who we are, we are the ones that build, host, and clean up the events, that's what you need to know, it's a club when 2 or more of us get together.  You don't schedule national events around lesser events you schedule local club events around the nationals.   The formula is fairly simple, you need to schedule national events on dates when school is not in session and when the venue can provide a successful event, such as not during black fly season.  If you want decent attendance you need to make it a 2 day event and announce it far enough in advance that people can schedule holiday and travel plans.  The biggest task for hosting a national observed trial event is getting observers, fix that problem and you will be a trials community hero👍
