cascao
Have Tech forks on a 2015 motorcycle. I completely disassembled the forks and changed oil 11 months ago. Do I need disasembly and clean it again or just opening the cap and draining old oil and putting new is ok? Which oil you prefer? 5w or 7,5w? copemech
5W is the one, however you do it you will need to pump the air out of the damping cartridge in the right side fork and assure the fluid level is correctly measured on the Tech forks. no real easy way on them
heffergm
Techs are about as easy as it gets. Pull the forks, remove caps, dump oil, add oil, pump to remove air, measure air gap and add oil till level is correct. Reassemble. 1
cascao
Found that doing this way (not completly disasembling) old oil will be trapped on hydraulic cartridge. On coil side this can work. Edited April 2, 2018 by cascao
heffergm
Any old oil in the cartridge in techs will be mixed with the majority of new oil added during the oil change. I'm not going to completely disassemble the cartridge for the sake of 50mL of oil. On Marzocchis I agree, you have no choice but to drain the cartridge, but on techs I haven't found that to be the case. I could always be wrong...
