shakennstirred
As said sounds like the Choke circuit is blocked. what did you use to clean it? I use a sonic cleaner to make sure it's totally clean. I picked this up off eBay, The 3.2 Ltr is big enough for a single carb to be fully submerged. pschrauber
Try to use a hotter plug, they work better with a beit hotter plugs in general, how is the color of the plug: - black, - dark brown, - light brown in the middel and dark Brown around, - whitish to light Brown, I'am now using for all old bikes slightly hotter plugs with very good effect deoending starting running and durability of the plugs in general. Are the reeds still straight and do they close well, is the reed cage well sealed too? Edited March 7, 2018 by pschrauber

b40rt
Timing to far advanced will make it run hot, as will running weak.

Tillerman6
Old gas? Do not use gas with Ethanol in it Premium non-ethanol gas only. Do not open the throttle at all when cold starting the bike (owner's manual) Spark must be blue-white and strong. Check compression as well. Timing - points open 21mm BTDC. on the flywheel circumference. Works for me.(suggestions from Feetupfun)
