The pre-Pro models ran 50:1 as the fuel mix lubed the main bearings. The GG has a few mistakes in it.

Pro models use the gearbox oil to lubricate the main bearings so less is required in the fuel mix. I run mine at 70:1 with a good synthetic 2T oil and its never fouled a plug.

Still using a little gear oil but not smoking yesterday, bike felt good, throttle response was ok, good bark but probably a centre box/silencer full of sludge. Steamed out a couple of times without the fan coming on whilst rock crawling, after that it was fine, assume it was air locked.

Mrs is woring tomorrow so will go for a hangover buster in the morning... splash of fuel, oil and coolant and should be good to go.

On the plus side... felt much better yesterday, months of layoff coming good with reactivated muscle memory... cant bring myself to strip it yet... want to ride it. :)

Fast forward some time… 😅 The stripped it down 2yrs ago and it lay in bits for most of that time. Rebuilt it a couple of months ago.

I lay the clutch side engine casing on its side and filled it up with gear oil and put some paper towel under it and left it overnight. No leaks.

Inside the main bearing ID there’s a viton o-ring which I assume wears over time. Took it out and measured it, got one from a supplier and replaced it. All good.

Replaced the gearbox bearings, running a bit quieter now, most of them rough to turn with your finger. Main bearings and the stator side shaft seal ok too. New piston rings and gaskets, running well now.
