guy53
I just bought a 2015 ST 250 in very good condition, I had a 03 rev 250, I find the ST light and agile but a little '' nervous ''. I mostly ride the bike in the mountain, don't really enjoy competition and I am past my prime !!! I also find the gearing a little tall so here's what I think : I already change for a slow throttle, I will replace the 42t for a 44t rear sprocket to cure the low speed problem and I ordered a flywheel puller to put less advance in the timing. Also the mapping switch is on '' S '', does that really work or is it just a gadget ? Advise very welcome. Guy
section swept
What size gearbox sprocket is fitted, you will have a better effect on gearing at the front (g/box) if the sprocket is not already as small as can effectively be used. guy53
It is fitted with a 10t, I did not want to go too low. Guy
cascao
If nothing else work....Try closing reed valve gap a bit...
copemech
44 is a decent trade, as the 9 on front is just too low! See how you do before messing with timing. Does it have a dellorto carb?
guy53
Yes it does Guy

brianrch
I have a 2015 ST 250 and though I agree that the gearing may be a little tall, I am using the stock gearing. I tried a 44 rear and went back to stock. I find that stock gets good traction, climbs well and offers good control.
guy53
Brianrch, you are right, but I would like a little slower 1st gear around trees. Do you find any difference in the 2 setting of the mapping switch ? Guy
brianrch
Not really, i also just leave it on S
