Darcy Sarto
Hi Guys. Just a bit of advice needed please on the 'Scorpa 300 Factory'. Just sold a 2017 Repsol Mont, great bike but it liked to be bossed about otherwise it bossed me. Going back to a 2 stroke for lightness and manners. Bad back catching up with me! Not ridden the new Scorpa or any Scorpa for that matter, but I have been offered a 2018 Factory 300 demo. How do they handle and what is the turning circle like? Whats the engine power like. Balance etc? Did have a few modern Sherco 305's 2013's and found the engines not to powerful and quite pleasant. Did good in the results on them as well. People seem to like the Scorpa's, but not the Sherco's. Go figure! Any feed back would be great. Thanks. lineaway
Get a ride on one. They have lots of power compared to the old Sherco`s. They turn ok, but I think they feel cramped. Like you are to far forward. But everyone is different on likes/dislikes.
nhuskys
Give it a try. Scorpa doesn't feel cramped to me, but I'm short. They turn better than a Sherco. 300 Factory might be a little zippier than you want, so try a standard too, if you can.
micm
Turns fine, grips well, generally considered powerful although different issues of the bike (ie by year and by versions, works or standard) have quite different 'black box' settings so there is some year by year variety but quite subtle, the latter or even the 'works' ones not always more 'powerful.' f you have two or three similar Scorpas of different iterations you can swop the black box and you will feel the differences, mainly at the bottom end. There is a perception by some expert riders that they are more 'grounded' and less 'bouncy' than their Sherco sister bike although the differences in the two machines appear to be physically relatively minor. They are old school, simple, plenty of go, reliable and really do grip, far far better than older Shercos. I can't say I have noticed the 'cramped' riding comment by Lineally and I am average build 6 foot. The 300 has loads of go, maybe too much for fiddly stuff unless you are good at hopping etc. Much quicker off the mark than a Mont of either size (which catches up later!). Later clutches are lighter. Edited October 21, 2018 by micm Spelling
hgas
What’s the build quality like these days ?say compared to a gas gas for example?i know the old shercos up to 2015 weren’t renowned for good build quality
worldtrialchamp
The build quality is fantastic. Very durable
lineaway
Except for the leaking fuel tanks.
nhuskys
Put an aftermarket Jitsie petcock on my 2018 Scorpa 125 Factory and not a drip since.
elemetal
Quote Except for the leaking fuel tanks. I put a new o-ring (.020" thicker) an set it in oil proof silicon when re-installing. So far (10 hrs, 1 event) it's been fine and looks to be solved. Time will tell but it doesn't seem to be a big issue that can't be solved easily. I'm liking the bike overall; seems well made and put together.
