andy_290 Posted January 14, 2006 Author Report Share Posted January 14, 2006 Make sure you have some play on the plunger rod that comes out of your master cylinder. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry to bring it up again but have you checked there is play in the rod. No play gives the symptoms you describe. Also check that there isn't any play in the pivot for the brake lever. It needs to push squarely towards the master cylinder. Mark T <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, this is seriously p*ssing me off now too, I replaced the master cylinder as I said, the fluid is coming through in big spurts with each press if you bleed it off, there's just no pressure and nothing I do seems to work, I took off the caliper and split it, fired out the pistons with an airline, they came out only after twenty minutes or so's persuasion and plenty of boiling water, they fired out like bullets!! cleaned them all up inside, checked the seals and it all looks A OK, pushed them back in and they're still giving me grief! husky Posted January 26, 2006 Report Share Posted January 26, 2006 Sounds like the master cylinder piston is not returning fully.remove the return spring from the brake pedal,ensure that the cylinder pushrod has about .5 mm up and down play before it operates the cylinder.Back off the pedal height adjusting bolt so you get max stroke on the pedal then adjust pushrod to above setting.I'm not winding you up but get the caliper a bit higher thanthe master cylinder so any air naturally rises to the bleed nipple.They can be b-----ds to bleed but doing the above has always worked for me.
