T5 john
Hi I have just cleared my garage and now its time to start restoring my ty175 .I got it running and it goes through the gears ok but has a loud knocking noise. I removed the head barrel and piston hoping it was just the small end bearing but the big end has a bit of up and down and side to side movement. I am hoping some of you nice people out there can put me on to a good engine rebuilder. I am based in Liverpool but any where in the north west or north Wales will do. Will keep you up to date with the project and I am sure I will be picking your brains soon. Cheers.
bikestat
do it yourself simple enough to work on and just send the crank off for a new conrod big end assembly to be fitted
zippy
There is also an online manual http://trialsport.com.au/TY175/
T5 john
Thanks guys for the advice. I am thinking of doing it myself, the only thing putting me off is the gears. Does the gear assembly stay in place when the cases are split. If not what kind of job is it to re assemble Thanks again.
bikestat
plenty of pics in the manual nothing to fear on those. strange how people panic about gearboxes and carbs.
T5 john
I’m in the process of re building the wheels on the ty175. Has anyone got advice on what type of finish to do on the hubs. I was thinking about powder coating but have read about it bubbling on magnesium. Thanks.
